I am thoroughly impressed by the expansion rate, absorbency, drainage, and texture of this product. It was my first time using coconut coir from a brick to replace peat in my homemade potting mix, and I am extremely satisfied with the results. I only used 1/5 of the large brick to create the equivalent of an 8 cu ft bag of potting mix, and had no trouble reconstituting it quickly. I appreciate the convenience of using small blocks for soil storage rather than large sacks. The lightweight nature of this product is a definite plus for me, as I prefer not to lug heavy sacks around. While this coarser grade may not be suitable for germinating seeds, seed-starting coir blocks are available and highly recommended for that purpose. Starting off, I have a large collection of reptiles and finding a naturalistic substrate that is both cost-effective and suitable for multiple enclosures can be challenging. This product stands out in that aspect. It effectively maintains humidity levels without causing any mold issues, even in habitats with higher humidity levels.
